This video provides instructions on how to add background color in Word 2013. First go to the Design tab and then select the color in the color box in the upper right corner of the window and set it as the background color. . Then click on a color to apply on your page.
In the Word window, click the "Design" tab at the top.
Then click on a color to apply on your page. Unfold the ribbon as it is assembled and click the View tab. This will remove the background color from the page, leaving the default background color blank.
